Bonfire, Hot Dogs, Smores

This morning Steve and I took a jog along the beach while Yumi babysat the kids. Seeing so many empty firepits along the way, as chilly as it was, we were inspired to have a bonfire before sunset to end the year 2010. We quickly bought fixings for dinner and dessert and drove to Huntington Beach. Anna was a bit cold but fortunately Yumi came all bundled up and lent Anna one of her many jackets. Steve did a great job starting up the flames, and we enjoyed hotdogs and smores. Sam declared it to be the "best day ever", hopefully he has just as much fun tomorrow, his 6th birthday. Cheers to a memorable year!

The Getty

We went to the Getty Museum with Mari's family, and Rob's sister Sue's family. It was a picturesque day! (I predated this blog entry to fit in the rest of the year's photos.) Enjoy!

Christmas Festivities

Do you recognize a fresh-shaven member of the family?

On Christmas morning, the kids did not get up until 7am, which is late especially for Sam. Anna immediately heard a "purr" from one of the wrapped packages and knew it was her Fur Real Cat, which she named Snowball. The cat is quite lifelike and entranced baby Julia.

The family had two rounds of opening presents, the first included gifts from our family up north. The second round came along with Yumi, Mari, Rob, Julia, and my parents. At one point the room was consumed with gifts but surprisingly we were able to make space afterwards for Wii Fit Plus. We enjoyed a Honeybaked ham brunch which included a baked potato bar, pasta salad, and cupcakes. We managed to get a group shot which included camera-shy Sam but he was a good sport about it.

It's been a wonderful winter break with great family times!
