San Diego Part 2

After enjoying Balboa Park and its unique sculptures, we headed downtown and strolled by the navy ship USS Midway on our way to a seafood dinner. We enjoyed seeing the water on one side, and the sparkling city lights on the other. The next day in Old Town San Diego, we saw the city's first school house, and bought some sweet at the candy shop. A Mexican lunch rounded out our short-but-sweet visit.

San Diego Part 1

We had a mini-vacation in San Diego right before Thanksgiving. We knew we wanted to explore Balboa Park and we ended up spending most of the day there. The highlights included the Spanish Village Art Center, the Botanical Building and the Air and Space Museum.

Thanksgiving at School

I was able to attend Sam's and Anna's Thanksgiving feasts at school. Sam was one of two pilgrims in his class, the rest chose to wear Indian headbands. You can see him to the right on the first photo, and towards the back in the second photo, just look for the black hat. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast in his kindergarten room.

Anna sang a mini-solo in her class performance, I was really impressed by her strong voice. Other kids chose to sing or recite a poem or story about Thanksgiving. Afterwards we enjoyed a potluck lunch.

Both classes have sweet children and wonderful parents, it was nice to be a part of their special day.

Fall Snapshots

A lovely visit with Uncle Wendell and Aunt Nancy...

... and look at Sam, not so camera-shy here, at the homecoming game with the winning class banner.

Carter, Christie and Bob

Last weekend we had a very fun visit with Carter, Christie and Bob. They participated in our current favorite family game, "garage door dodgeball". We then went down to San Juan Capistrano and over to our favorite mission. The kids panned some gold and we explored the grounds. Afterwards we came back home and played some Wii Dance and had dinner. The day flew by!

Run Forrest Run 5k

Yumi and I watched Steve and the other speedy mararthoners take off on their Long Beach race before we started off on our "Run Forrest Run" 5k. Afterwards we enjoyed a complimentary lunch of shrimp and salmon, dubbed as the best post-race food, provided by Bubba Gump Restaurant. It was enjoyable watching the long-distance runners without feeling the pressure of doing a long-distance race myself.
