The day started with a Turkey Trot, 5k for Anna and Steve, and a 10k for me. Later it was off to dinner at Grandma's house. Mari and Julia were able to join us as well. Yumi ate at the kids' table to everyone's delight. It was a delicious feast, I'm hoping we can have this meal more than once a year!

We had a wonderful trip to the San Diego Zoo. We stopped by Lucha Libre for some tasty tacos on our way. The San Diego Zoo is vast, hundreds of animals on display in spacious habitats. The large animals impress me, the elephants, hippos, polar bears... there was a very long line for the pandas, well worth the wait! Our trip was topped off by a ride on the skyline.

Kids can take you out of your comfort zone, in subtle and in extreme ways. Case in point, experiencing the Safari Park Flightline with Anna. Right when I thought the training line was the actual event, a truck took us to the huge metal platform (the 9th photo down) where we hooked our harness onto the cable trolley, and away we went! The Flightline is a 2/3 mile zipline soaring 130 above the ground with rhinos, giraffes, deer and more animals below. It was scary, exhilarating and tear-inducing all at the same time.
