Brea 8k

The family ran the Brea 8k in February, Sam relaxed in the sturdy jogger stroller and the rest of us hoofed it. It's my new favorite distance.

Girl Scouts World Thinking Day

Last month Anna and her troop participated in "World Thinking Day". Our troop had a display on Kenya, and served fried "plantains" (bananas) as a treat. Different Girl Scout troops represented various countries around the world. The girls traveled to different countries with their passports.







I love how Anna had a lollipop in her mouth while she was stamping passports.

Rikuzen Takata

When I worked in Japan after college, my good friend Allyn lived in a town called Rikuzen Takata. This port town was one of the worst-hit areas during the recent earthquake and tsunami. These photos were taken in Rikuzen Takata in 1993.

We then headed home and ate cake and opened presents. Bonfire in the wintertime, it was one of the best parties ever.

We took our two cars and loaded them up with Anna's friends and cook-out gear and headed to the beach. Sure it was chilly and there was no one in sight, but that's what made it so fun.
