Japan! Day 4, Part 3 : Kamakura Daibutsu

We made it to the Buddha statue in Kamakura, which is more than 700 years old. It is second in size only to the statue in Nara, which my mother and I visited last year. Please read the description on the second photo for more details about the Kamakura Daibutsu. It has withstood earthquakes, and a large tidal wave, and still "sits" today. Steve noted that he is as tall as the statue's ear! We paid a small fee to enter the statue itself, the third photo shows its hollow head from below. The Daibutsu was a remarkable sight for the kids to see for the first time.
