Japan! Day 4, Part 2 : Walking and Eating through Kamakura

After Engaku-ji, we took the train to the next stop, Kamakura Station, and had lunch on the main street. The kids had chicken skewers and rice while Steve and I had the sushi bowl pictured. We decided to walk from the restaurant to the Great Buddha, the second largest bronze Buddha statue in Japan, and a popular tourist destination. On the way we stopped at a Starbucks, with outdoor seating and a water feature. Along with the sloping roof line, it is definitely the prettiest I've seen. Note how tiny the small beverage size is in Japan! (Even Steve towered over the "mini" vans.) Walking through the neighborhoods with the modern homes in the quiet neighborhoods puts Kamakura towards the top of my list of "places to retire if money were no object".
