Mission San Juan Capistrano

Gretchen is in Orange County for an extended weekend visit, on Sunday after church we headed over to Mission San Juan Capistrano.

Sam immediately spotted a fountain with huge koi fish, he was mesmerized for quite a bit.

It was easy to see why this is called the "Jewel of the Missions". It had been almost a year since we last visited and it's still so visually stunning to me.

They maintain the grounds so beautifully.

Sam spotted yet some more fish here.

Since we last visited, the mission has added some child-friendly interactive displays.

What did kids do for recreation more than 200 years ago, when the mission was built? Check it out here.

More koi!

Anna and I are near the same fountain.

Loved the water lilies.

Afterwards we headed over to Pedro's Tacos across the way, our first time. It was mid-afternoon and hopping with people.

Tasty tacos and one of the best churros I've ever tasted. Sam agrees! A very, very nice afternoon.
