13th Anniversary

Steve and I spent our 13th anniversary at the Grand Californian, adjacent to Disneyland and California Adventure. We wanted to be close to home, yet somewhere fun and memorable. This is a gorgeous hotel, craftsman-style, with a huge yet homey lobby.

So starting from the beginning of our "date", after work on Friday, Yumi rushed right over to babysit the kids, so Steve and I could take off on our getaway. There were a few glitches during check-in which resulted in a slight delay in getting our room. In the meantime the management asked if we were hungry and offered us a couple of free meals, we were able to choose from three restaurants.

We chose the restaurant that served steak. When we were seated in this gorgeous restaurant and handed the server our vouchers which included an entree, dessert, and drink, he looked at us and said, "Today is your lucky day, Go For It!" Our server took care of us and was more than generous in his offerings... we had a fabulous meal, as you can see from the receipt. We were pleased with everything! And if you want the details, Steve is at his height of storytelling when he gives his version.

We strolled over to Disneyland and watched Fantasmic, this is a parade, light show, fireworks display all wrapped in one!

Saturday morning most of the guests were heading to the parks, so we enjoyed a quiet stroll around the hotel grounds.

Steve is "pinching" the California Adventure Bear Mountain down to size.

For breakfast we headed over to La Brea Bakery, Steve started off with a cappucino and then had some french toast, bacon, potatoes, the works.

I had eggs with spinach and cheese, and a side salad. Yum!

The Grand Californian has the best jacuzzi I've been in, this is a huge hot tub with varying jets all around the perimeter, upper and lower back, and foot jets. I could have stayed in here all day.

20 minutes away, yet it was a true getaway. Wow, 13 years, good thing we aren't superstitious, if anything, it was a lucky day for us. I truly appreciated this weekend and came home refreshed and rejuvenated. Thanks to Yumi for staying with the kiddos, and Mama for taking them out to breakfast and shopping!
